Help for Heroes fund raising at the Christmas lunches 2010

Here at Springfield hospital, Healthcare assistant Gill Farrington embarked on a campaign to raise money for the Help the Heroes charity by running a raffle throughout December. The charity had been unanimously chosen by the staff as the one they wanted to support.

Staff at Springfield hospital donated many gifts and local businesses in Chelmsford in Essex also joined us and gave generously,

Our thanks go to:

  • Tesco’s Direct and Tesco Chelmsford
  • Boots the chemist
  • Waterstones book shop
  • Regis hairdressers
  • Marks and Spencer’s
  • Scissors hairdressers
  • Chiquitos
  • Paul the hairdresser
  • Essex Life
  • Springfield hospital
  • Springfield hospital staff
  • And a patient who donated £200

The draw was made at the staff Christmas lunches at the hospital on the 17th December by two soldiers who also accepted the cheque on behalf of the Help the Heroes charity. Their names were:

Warrant officer class 2 Mac McCormick of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment and Sergeant Adie Mulgrew of the Coldstream Guards.

In total the amount raised was a fantastic £1258.00.

Marketing manager Jan Newman said “ This was a fantastic result for a worthy charity and we are delighted here at Springfield hospital to be working with the community in support of our soldiers. Everyone has been extremely generous and Gill has worked very hard to pull it all together and amass some wonderful raffle prizes. We are very proud of everyone involved.”.
