Shock Wave Therapy
Springfield Hospital's Physiotherapy Department - Sports Injury
Clinic has been investing in new, evidence-based physiotherapy
techniques for treating chronic tendinopathies (tendon problems
which have failed to resolve over six months) such as tennis
elbow.
To this end, we now are able to offer treatment with the latest
Shock Wave Therapy machine.
- Shock Wave Therapy can be used to treat the following:-
- Achillies Tendinopathy
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Medial Shin pain/ Tibial Stress Syndrome
- Medial/ lateral Epicondyle Tendinopathy
- Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy
- Patella Tendinopathy
Shock Wave Therapy is a non-invasive/non-surgical procedure and
produces a high intensity mechanical wave which when directed at
injured tissue produces a healing response. This treatment has well
established evidence and NICE Guidelines.
Shock Wave Therapy treatment includes four treatments on a
weekly basis and is used in conjunction with traditional
physiotherapeutic techniques. Research indicates that recovery can
occur over several months. The self-financing cost will be at the
very competitive rate of £300 for up to four sessions and £90
per session thereafter if required.
Following our recent audit, the results demonstrated that
patient’s symptoms improved by a mean average of 67% (range
50-100%).
If you have a nagging long term chronic inflammation condition
