Springfield Private Hospital, Essex
Springfield Hospital opened in 1987 and is one of Essex’s
leading private hospitals. It is a 64 bedded unit consisting of
fifty eight private bedrooms four of which are two bedded parent
and child rooms and a high observation unit with two beds. Each
private bedroom has its own en-suite facilities and a television
with remote control. Meals are served as room service and we can
offer a catering service for relatives and friends.
All of our consultants are subject to strict vetting
procedures to ensure only those with the appropriate experience and
qualifications are granted Practising Privileges.
Springfield Hospital's parent company is Ramsay Health Care UK, an
Australian company with a network of private hospitals and
treatment centres across the country. Springfield Hospital is
situated in a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Chelmsford,
with attractive landscaped gardens and free parking.
It is also accessible via train or bus service with Chelmsford
train station being 10 minutes distance away by car and bus routes
stopping directly outside of the hospital. Over the years
Springfield Hospital has striven to provide a first class
environment and service through a programme of continued
development of our staff, the facilities and investment.
As a result, we are able to provide an excellent facility, with
experienced, highly skilled staff. The hospital also provides
access to advanced medical technology to ensure a safe and a

Treatments at the hospital
The hospitals activity is predominately elective surgery and
currently covers the following specialities:
Breast / reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery, general surgery,
pain management, cardio version, gynaecology, plastic
surgery,
paediatric, colorectal surgery, laparoscopic, reconstructive
surgery,
ophthalmology, spinal surgery, cosmetic surgery, ear, nose and
throat, oral maxillo facial, urology, endoscopy, orthopaedic,
vascular and ophthalmology.
We do also accept medical and Oncology patients.
Cosmetic Surgery
Competitively priced cosmetic surgery is also available for a
wide range of procedures including breast enlargement: tummy tuck:
liposuction and facial surgery. These can be booked through our
VIVE clinic on a non named consultant basis or directly with a

Patient Choice
You are able to access our Premium Care services if you have
private medical insurance or are self funding. This provides for a
number of extra benefits such as fast track admission and
discharge, choice of consultant and choice of time and date of
appointment individual physiotherapy sessions and much more. See

However, if you are an NHS patient you may still be able to have
your treatment at Springfield hospital. This is possible because we
can offer a certain amount of outpatient clinics and in patient
treatments at Springfield under the Choose and Book scheme. This is
a Department of Health initiative to give the patient choice. You
must meet certain health standards criteria to be eligible. Please

Our Staff
Our consultants and nursing staff are highly experienced and
have your care and comfort as their highest priority. Throughout
your journey with us from admission to post discharge we aim to
provide an excellent standard of care. Whilst our consultants are
not on site all of the time, they are available and on call to the
nursing staff 24/7.
The hospital also employs a qualified Resident Medical Officer
who is on call and who lives on site for 24 hours a day a week
about. Therefore you can be reassured that there is always medical
expertise to hand.
