Dr Alexander-Williams specialises in pain management, back pain, neck pain, musculoskeletal pain and Pelvic pain. Dr Alexander-Williams has a special interest in the management of post surgical pain, Complex Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (CRPS), chronic pelvic and abdominal pain, diagnosis and treatment of low back pain and sciatica.

Dr Alexander-Williams is interested in all challenging pain problems. Three quarters of the referrals he receives are for back pain and sciatica, and he is especially interested in integrating invasive techniques such as radiofrequency lesioning into a biopsychosocial model of care. He runs multidisciplinary clinics for patients with pelvic pain and abdominal visceral pain associated with Gastroparesis.

Academic Background

Dr Alexander-Williams medical training started at The London Hospital where he also started his anaesthetic training. He continued as an SHO in Bury St Edmunds before starting as a Registrar in Leicester an d the South Trent rotation. Before becoming a Senior Registrar, Dr Alexander-Williams took a year out of clinical work to undertake research on novel routes of opiate administration and the effect of anaesthetic agents on respiratory function. As a senior registrar Dr Alexander-Williams spent a year sabbatical in Melbourne, Australia.As a consultant he spent a six month sabbatical in London learning intervention pain techniques.
