Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is where our consultants prescribe medicines to treat cancer. This may be to try and cure the cancer, make other treatments more effective, relive symptoms or to try and stop the cancer returning. Sometimes the medicines are given orally but often patients will need to attend the Cancer Centre to have an injection directly into the vein (known as Intravenous therapy or IV therapy).
As a private patient you could benefit from attending one of our specialised cancer units where our experienced team of nurses can administer IV therapy. All the nurses have the nationally recognised qualification for Care of Adults receiving anti-cancer treatment. Patients will have their own television, free WIFI and access to our team of support staff during their stay.
Where clinical appropriate we can also offer patients the option to have ongoing Chemotherapy at home delivered by the same team of nurses they have already met in the Cancer Centre. This offers convenience to patients who are saved the need to travel to hospital, making family support easier. Home chemotherapy is also proven to reduce stress and side effects, such as nausea.
