Look Good Feel Better Workshops
Imagine 15 ladies entering a room – they’ve never met before, some are feeling a little shy, others lacking in confidence and not quite sure if they even want to be there. There’s an underlying air of anticipation and anxiety. Then, two hours later, they are all friends, chatting happily, laughing, exchanging ideas and stories.… and all looking so much better, more confident and more radiant than when they came in. This is partly because they are now smiling and happy, but also they are all beautifully and very naturally made-up. This is the magic of the LGFB workshops, they really do work wonders.
What the ladies have in common is that they are all undergoing cancer treatment and struggling with the visible side effects, which can often be devastating. At the Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford, the workshops are organised by Lorna Ellis, Cancer Support Centres Manager at the adjacent Helen Rollason Centre, together with LGFB Regional Coordinator Debbie Blackwell, a beauty consultant from Laura Mercier.
Debbie runs the workshop together with a great team of beauty consultant volunteers. Also on hand to help are two hospital volunteers – Maggie attended the first workshop a year ago at Springfield Hospital and said, “It’s a lovely afternoon – and does exactly what it says on the tin!” Since then, she has been to every workshop as a hospital volunteer. Edwina, who was a participant at last month’s workshop, described it as “great fun” and immediately offered to help.
